From Mont de Sëura, the outline of Sassolungo dominates the landscape, constantly changing with the light, clouds and seasons. From the upper chairlift station, views also extend towards the Odle peaks and other mountains of the Val Gardena Dolomites.

A designated viewpoint is located close to the upper station. It is an ideal place to stop, identify the surrounding peaks and observe how alpine meadows, forests and dramatic rock formations come together in a remarkably powerful landscape.

A spectacular photography hotspot in the Dolomites

Mont de Sëura offers countless opportunities to photograph Sassolungo from a particularly close and dramatic perspective. Its rock walls can be framed together with alpine meadows, forest, walking trails or the chairlift, creating images that convey both the mountain and the experience of being there.

Each season brings a different mood: green pastures and mountain flowers in summer, warmer colours in autumn, the contrast between snow and rock in winter, or clouds moving quickly across the summits. Memorable viewpoints can be reached without undertaking a long or demanding mountain hike.

Mont de Sëura in summer: walking through the landscape

During summer, Mont de Sëura is an excellent gateway to the Sassolungo Group. Trails 526B, 528 and 526 lead towards the Comici Hut, through the remarkable Stone City and onwards to the Sella Pass.

The route from Mont de Sëura to the Sella Pass keeps Sassolungo in view for much of the journey and provides a scenic, car-free approach to one of the best-known mountain passes in the Dolomites. Mont de Sëura is also a starting point for the Sassolungo circuit and for several hiking and mountain-bike routes.

Visitors looking for a completely different experience can try the zipline starting near the upper chairlift station. Extending for approximately 1.6 kilometres and descending more than 400 vertical metres towards Monte Pana, it offers an exciting flight above meadows and forest with Sassolungo as its backdrop. Opening periods, prices and participation requirements should be checked before visiting.

Mont de Sëura in winter: snow, skiing and silence

Winter transforms the landscape. Alpine meadows disappear beneath the snow, the forest becomes quieter and the sheer walls of Sassolungo appear even more dramatic.

Mont de Sëura is served by the chairlift during the winter season and forms part of the Monte Pana winter area. In addition to skiing, visitors can follow a scenic winter walking route: a broad trail descends from the upper station through snow-covered forest towards Monte Pana, with repeated views of the surrounding Dolomite peaks. Traction aids may be advisable when the surface is icy.

How to reach Mont de Sëura

From S. Cristina, take the chairlift located near the village centre to Monte Pana. From Monte Pana, a second chairlift departs at an altitude of 1,626 metres and takes you directly to Mont de Sëura, which brings you to an altitude of 2,042 metres. From here, you can walk to the highest peak at an altitude of 2,117 metres.

Monte Pana can also be reached on foot from S. Cristina or by car, with paid parking available on the plateau. Lift timetables and operating conditions vary according to the season and weather, so current information should always be checked before setting out.
